Manchester United are preparing a bid for Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The Sun says he had been seen within Old Trafford as a back-up plan during the pursuit of Erling Haaland.
Calvert-Lewin, 22, would cost around £50m, almost treble the £18M release clause that saw Norwegian whizz-kid Haaland move to Borussia Dortmund.
New Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti has admitted he was looking at Calvert-Lewin when he was Napoli boss and added: “There are a lot of people who have eyes on him".
The six foot two inch striker has been on Solskjaer's radar for months.
While there has been talk that the Goodison star's team mate Richarlison was a leading man on the Theatre of Dreams wish list DCL was always seen as having the potential to replace Romelu Lukaku as a physical presence.
