Man Utd target Vlaar intent on remaining with Aston Villa

Ron Vlaar has revealed that he might decide to extend his contract with Aston Villa.

Vlaar, who has been linked with Manchester United, has previously refused to extend his contract which runs out in the summer but now the defender might contemplate signing a new deal after Villa's recent revival.

Villa beat Liverpool to reach the FA Cup final on Sunday and afterwards, Vlaar was asked by reporters if it was now possible he could stay at the West Midlands club next term.

"Yes it is," replied Vlaar. "Things have changed for me in the past few months since Tim Sherwood took over.

"It's been a hard season for me with all the injuries. Now I just want to play and be important for the team.

"My future's not something to think about right now. You never know. I can't tell anyone too much about it right now. But this helps - you can trust me on that.

"I don't know about my future but to be part of this feels so good. And to feel the joy and relief after beating West Brom in the previous game. So many people came on the pitch."
