Manchester United are set to challenge Manchester City for the signature of Bruno Fernandes.
The Sporting Lisbon captain has scored 31 goals in 50 games for Sporting this season.
ESPN claim United want Fernandes to replace outgoing midfielder Ander Herrera, who is expected to join PSG as a free agent.
Another player on their midfield shortlist is Atletico Madrid star Saul Niguez.
Portugal international Fernandes is rated at around £50 million.
