Manchester United have tabled a bid for Lens defender Raphael Varane.
Despite the arrival of Phil Jones from Blackburn Rovers, United have pressed ahead with their pursuit of 18 year-old Varane and made a €10.5 million offer for the youngster yesterday.
United had previously thought they had settled terms at €3.5 million last month, but relegated Lens raised the stakes with Bayern Munich and Arsenal also in contact.
Varane is ready to move to United and hopes Lens will make a quick decision after he completed his exams last week.
