Manchester United striker Robin van Persie hopes to be fit for the derby against Manchester City.

The Daily Star says the Dutchman hasn't played since picking up an ankle injury against Swansea in February.

United have won all of the Premier League matches they've played without the £24m frontman, to move a step closer to securing a top-four spot and Champions League qualification for next season.

And they could now be handed a boost for the end-of-season run-in, with Van Persie set to be back in action for the clash with neighbours City on April 12.
