Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney admits his winner against Rangers had extra significance for himself.
The Manchester United striker reckons Water Smith's side weren't very good at Ibrox on Wednesday and claimed his goal thrilled him because he's a Celtic fan.
Rooney stepped up to score from the spot after Steven Naismith's late foul on Fabio in the box and said: "When you score it's always a special moment. But to do it against Rangers when everybody knows I follow Celtic was a great moment."
As if that comment wasn't bad enough for the Light Blues faithful Rooney then delivered an unflattering assessment of their team's performance.
He said: "I thought Rangers were very defensive. I expected them to come out a little bit more in the last 20 minutes and have more of a go.
"But it's always difficult against a team that's so defensive. You've got to be patient and hope the goal will come for your side."
