Manchester United striker Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez will have tests to ascertain the extent of the knee injury sustained on Wednesday.
The 25-year old suffered the problem while on duty for Mexico when he collided with Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama in their friendly in Atlanta which ended in a 0-0 draw.
Hernandez was subbed off at half-time and although he will require tests, Mexico team doctor Jose Guadalupe Vazquez has allayed fears of any serious damage.
"It is a bruise, but we have to rule out any ligament strain," he told ESPN.
"He only has pain and he doesn't have a history of knee instability.
"The bruise is in the middle part of the knee. We will have to wait to see whether it is a strain."
Chicharito is now doubtful for United's Premier League trip to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
