Manchester United are readying a bid for Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund.
United manager Erik ten Hag sees the Dane as a potential project player and would welcome him alongside Tottenham centre-forward Harry Kane.
The Times says Atalanta are prepared to sell Hojlund and will seek £40m to part with the centre-forward.
La Dea coach Gian Piero Gasperini has conceded they face losing their centre-forward this summer.
"From the technical standpoint and in other areas, I have seen very few strikers who are as strong as him at 20 years old," Gasperini said.
"He has considerable room for improvement, for instance in the air, inside the box, or with the final pass.
"Nowadays, once this type of player emerges, the top European clubs generally swoop in with offers that are hard to turn down for a team like Atalanta."
