Man Utd stars Young, Jones gush over Rooney hat-trick

Manchester United coasted into the group stage proper of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils defeated Club Brugge 4-0 at the Jan Breydel Stadium to win the two-legged play-off tie 7-1 on aggregate following last week's 3-1 triumph at Old Trafford.

The win means United are back in Europe's premier club competition after missing out last season and the match also marked the return to form of captain Wayne Rooney who scored a hat-trick which was not lost on teammates Ashley Young and Phil Jones.

Louis van Gaal's United, who were also served by an Ander Herrera goal, are now in Pot 2 for Friday's group stage draw alongside neighbours Manchester City, rivals Arsenal, Spanish giants Real Madrid and German club Bayer Leverkusen.
