Man Utd star Pogba hits back at 'ignorant racists'

Manchester United star Paul Pogba spoke out against "ignorant racists" amid the racist abuse furore on social media.

Pogba and several other black footballers have suffered racial abuse on sites such as Twitter since the start of the new season.

While he did not comment on the matter immediately, Pogba took to social media to share his views on the matter.

Accompanying a picture of his son in front of prints of his father Fassou Antoine, he wrote on Instagram: "My ancestors and my parents suffered for my generation to be free today, to work, to take the bus, to play football.

"Racist insults are ignorance and can only make me stronger and motivate me to fight for the next generation."

Manchester United and Chelsea are among clubs who have stated they will speak with Twitter to get a handle on how such abuse can be stopped.

Many of the accounts that tweet racist abuse have few followers and do not include the real names of those behind them.
