Manchester United's 3-1 win over AFC Bournemouth on Sunday suggests to Jose Mourinho that he has a fairly deep squad.
A number of key Red Devils players missed the Premier League season opener on the south coast which was won courtesy of goals from Juan Mata, Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic on his English top flight debut.
According to Mourinho, the absence of a handful off top quality players says to him that United have a playing group capable of challenging on all fronts in season 206/17.
"When I look to the players that were not on the pitch, (Jesse) Lingard, (Marcus) Rashford, (Henrikh) Mkhitaryan, Memphis Depay, Ashley Young, we have a lot," said the Portuguese.
"So when September arrives, when cup talk arrives and the Europa League arrives, we have the people to play and to try to be competitive in every competition."
And that is without mentioning the name of Paul Pogba who arrived from Juventus on a world-record transfer fee recently.
