Man Utd sound out Southampton for Danny Ings

Manchester United are planning a move for Southampton striker Danny Ings.

The Telegraph says United have made enquiries about former Liverpool striker Ings, who has one year remaining on his current deal.

The Saints are yet to reach an agreement with the 28-year-old over a new deal, and rivals are aware that Ralph Hasenhuttl's side will be put under pressure to sell if a formal offer is placed, with the threat of losing him for free next season looming.

Edinson Cavani, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood make up United's selection of centre forwards, with the latter currently utilised on the wing although there are hopes the 19-year-old will become United's leading man in years to come.

Ings has scored 12 goals in 28 Premier League appearances for Hasenhuttl's side this campaign, having bagged 22 goals in the top flight last season.
