Man Utd slash asking price for Sergio Romero

Manchester United are slashing their asking price for Sergio Romero.

The Mirror says United are prepared to sell Romero in January for half of what they were demanding in the summer.

The Argentine goalkeeper was seeking an Old Trafford exit once Dean Henderson returned and relegated him to third choice.

United wanted £5m for Romero but no club was prepared to meet that valution.

It meant the shot stopper had to stay put which bought about an angry reaction from him and his wife.

Romero's contract is winding down, but United have threatened to trigger a contract extension clause in his deal as they hold out for their asking price.

But could now accept as little as £2.5m for the 33-year-old who has been left out of their Premier League and Champions League squads.
