Manchester United are serious about a move for Velez Sarsfield attacker Thiago Almada.
The Manchester Evening News says United have identified teenage Argentine winger Almada as a possible transfer alternative to Jadon Sancho.
United's recruitment team are monitoring a raft of potential targets in case their interest in Borussia Dortmund star Sancho bears no fruit. Young Wales duo David Brooks (Bournemouth) and Rabbi Matondo (Manchester City) are among those alternatives.
The club view the position as a key area to strengthen this summer, after targeting weaknesses in the right-back, centre-back and attacking midfield roles in previous windows under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Almada, 19, is understood to be attracting significant interest around Europe after starring for Velez Sarsfield in the Argentinian league.
He can play on the right wing or through the middle and has been a regular for his country's age group sides. He scored six goals and laid on two assists in all competitions across the Argentinian domestic season before its suspension.
