Man Utd ripped off by £20m for Eric Bailly

Manchester United were ripped off to the tune of £20million when signing Eric Bailly.

According to the CIES Football Observatory, United paid overs for the Ivory Coast defender who joined from Villarreal in the summer.

The Red Devils paid the Spanish club £32m for the 22-year-old centre-back, who according to CIES should have only cost £12m.

The analysis indicates that Bailly is the Premier League's most overpriced summer signing ahead of Everton recruit Yannick Bolasie, who cost the Toffees almost £19m more than the Observatory expected.

John Stones came in third in the most overpriced category, with Manchester City spending £17m too much on the defender when purchasing from Everton for £47.5m.
