Man Utd remain keen on Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish

Manchester United remain keen on Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish.

The Manchester Evening News says despite the coronavirus suspension, United are continuing negotiations with clubs and representatives of potential signings.

United had stepped up their pursuit of Grealish in February, having shortlisted him among their playmaker targets. United are believed to have already had an approach for Grealish rejected.

Grealish, 24, expressed his 'embarrassment' at being pictured at the scene of a car accident on Sunday, having urged followers to 'stay at home' amid the coronavirus lockdown. Villa have fined Grealish two weeks' wages and the £150,000 sum has been donated to The University Hospitals Charity in Birmingham.

The summer transfer window officially opens on June 10 but the window is bound to be disrupted by the chaos caused by the coronavirus, with the major European leagues preparing for the possibility of playing matches in June.

Grealish fits United's criteria of young British signings following the additions of Englishmen Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, as well as Wales international Daniel James, last summer. Senior club sources have said 23 is the perfect age to recruit a player but do not believe a player's development alters significantly between the ages of 23 and 28.
