Manchester United have pulled out of their move for Sporting CP midfielder Bruno Fernandes, it has been claimed.
The Sun says United have decided to end their pursuit of the 25-year-old after refusing to meet Sporting's valuation of the midfielder.
The Portuguese giants are holding out for as much as £68million for a player who has registered eight goals and seven assists in just 16 league games this season.
However, United are understood to have offered an initial fee of £42.5million with a further £8.5m in add-ons, with the two clubs locked in negotiations since the weekend without a breakthrough.
With Sporting refusing to budge on their asking price, it is now claimed that United co-chairman Joel Glazer has decided to walk away from a deal because he considers the valuation to be too high.
