Man Utd ponder triggering buyout clause of Real Madrid target Dimitri Oberlin

Manchester United have learned Red Bull Salzburg striker Dimitri Oberlin can be snapped up for a cut-price fee.

Oberlin, 20, is this season on-loan with FC Basel and played a full 90 in last night's shock Champions League win over United.

United and Real Madrid have been linked with the striker this season and TMW says he can be snapped up for a bargain basement fee.

Oberlin's current deal with Salzburg carries a €5m buyout clause - and United could active it in January.

The 20 year-old last month revealed he could've joined United three years ago.

"Yes, they (United) had been watching me - the transfer almost happened. In the end I decided otherwise," Oberlin told Spox. "My parents had allowed me to transfer, but I did not.

"I would have started at the U18, the way into the first team would have been far. The competition would have been massive."
