Man Utd ponder Jan bid for AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek

Manchester United are eyeing AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek.

The Manchester Evening News says Piatek is the latest forward to be linked with a January switch to Manchester United.

After a dreadful start to the season United have slumped to 12th in the Premier League table and it's clear that a lack of goals is becoming a big problem.

After Ole Gunnar Solskjaer deemed Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez surplus to requirements in the summer, United have had a critical lack of options in attacking areas.

They have scored just nine goals in eight league games, with four of them coming against Chelsea, and haven't scored more than one goal in a game in any competition since the opening weekend victory.

As a result, United are understandably being touted to make a move for a striker once the transfer window reopens in the new year and have already been linked with a number of names.

Prolific Pole Piatek had an outstanding start to life in Italy last season as he scored 19 goals in 21 games for Genoa before AC Milan paid more than seven times what Genoa had paid to bring him to the San Siro six months later.

Piatek's form has slowed slightly since making the move to Milan, with 13 goals in 28 games, but that can be explained by the awful rut the entire club is in.
