Manchester United are preparing a big-money offer for Atletico Madrid regarding Saul Niguez.

According to the Daily Mail, the Red Devils are ready to launch a serious pursuit of the 21-year-old midfielder by lodging a £54million bid.

United are getting ready for the appointment of Jose Mourinho, and with that will naturally come a summer spend up in a bid to arm the Portuguese with a top quality squad for the 2016/17 season and beyond.

Saul has been a key part of Diego Simeone's squad over the past two seasons and turned heads with his stunning solo goal against Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-final recently.

It is understood that United are willing to meet Saul's release clause which was recently increased from £34m to £54m when he extended his stay at the Vicente Calderon until the summer of 2021.
