Man Utd plan transfers committee (like Liverpool) with Fletcher involved

Manchester United are putting together a transfers committee to help improve their record in the market.

The Sun says the idea has been discussed at Carrington, with former title-winner Darren Fletcher present at the meeting.

Fletcher, 35, is expected to head up a team who will be charged with finding players to fit the United DNA.

Rio Ferdinand, 40, is another former United star who has been approached about taking a position on the team.

Liverpool have already successfully gone down this route with boss Jurgen Klopp working in tandem with sporting director Michael Edwards, head of scouting and recruitment Dave Fallows and goalkeeping coach John Achteberg.

United want to get away from the big-spending scattergun approach on stellar names that has clearly failed under three managers in the six years since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.
