Man Utd plan Solskjaer announcement to convince De Gea

Manchester United chiefs may name Ole Gunnar Solskjaer permanent manager to help convince David de Gea to pen new terms.

The Mirror says it is understood the club's hierarchy are considering naming Solskjaer as their full-time boss before the end of the campaign to remove any uncertainty about their future.

This would allow them to begin planning in earnest for next season when they hope to mount a title challenge.

It would also send a positive signal to potential new signings and the current squad that the club has a plan to move forward.

David De Gea is ready to pledge his long-term future to the club in a sign of his faith in Solskjaer and is close to agreeing a new £375,000-a-week deal.

Talks are on-going after the club activated his 12-month extension in November to keep him at Old Trafford until 2020 at least and the Spanish goalkeeper feels he can fulfil his ambitions with United.
