Manchester United have offered to double Ander Herrera's wages - but the Spaniard still is expected to leave.
Forbes reports they have an exclusive that United offered him a four-year deal that would have doubled his money, and considerably more than he has been presented with elsewhere.
Herrera's agent pushed for a five-year £300,000-a-week deal, but United would not pay such a high salary to a player who turns 30 this year, the report claims.
The midfielder has proved a popular figure at the club since arriving for £29m from Athletic Bilbao in 2014.
Herrera turned down the offer and opened talks with Paris Saint-Germain.
Though they are now resigned to losing him, it is reported that United made strenuous efforts to keep the 29-year-old.
