Manchester United are yet to discuss with Roma over a permanent deal for Chris Smalling.
The 29-year old is on a season-long loan with Roma.
The Daily Mail says United's head of development John Murtough met with Roma on Friday, but it's claimed that was merely to check on Smalling's progress and that there has been no negotiation initiated yet over making the move permanent.
As it stands, he intends to see out the season and return to Old Trafford before taking stock of his next move.
