Manchester United No2 Mike Phelan says they were delighted with their 7-1 win over the Airtricity League XI.
United's squad enjoyed a valuable runout in readiness for the new season, and Phelan was particularly pleased to see some of the squad's action-starved members getting up to speed.
"It was a good workout," Phelan told MUTV. "The players who needed the game got the game, and got the minutes that were required. They've put a lot of work in, in a short space of time.
"Michael Owen's worked very hard during the close season to get back to fitness, and he looked ready for it, he looked sharp. Antonio's had a little bit longer, he's had a little more preparation than Wayne and Carrick and a couple of others.
"It's just a case of balancing everything out and making sure that things develop the way we want them to, they have the required minutes and build them up, ready for the start of the season."
