Man Utd No2 Phelan admits avoiding video prep for Liverpool clash

Manchester United assistant manager Mike Phelan has decided against video analysis of Liverpool before today's clash.

The Sun says Phelan, 57, has focused on his team's tactics ahead of Sunday's Old Trafford clash.

Phelan, who revealed preparations for the game started on Friday, said: “We got the whole team together from the internationals.

“Some players have come back in better moods than others because they have qualified, so we've brought them together and shown them a few things.

“We've tried not to show them too much of Liverpool. It is more about who we are because if you go down that road you'd frighten them to death!"

He added: “We have come back in good nick. We are reduced in numbers but it will be an interesting game.

“We've planned... we have done some things in training and showed them things.

“When we get closer to the game, there will be more information fed to them.

“As a coach now it's changed a little bit. It is not all done on the training ground.

“Analysing and technology has come in to it so you can feed them information all the time but you just have to be careful what information you give them.

“You can't necessarily deliver the information to everybody in the same way."
