Manchester United have jumped into the battle for Fluminense striker Pedro.

Globo Esporte says United officials have contacted the club about the young Brazilian who was a target for Real Madrid last year.

They say Pedro was close to joining the Spanish giants before sustaining a cruciate knee ligament injury that required him to undergo surgery.

He has scored twice in six matches since regaining fitness.

It has been claimed should Pedro make a full recovery, Real would return with an offer in the region of £20m for him.
