Man Utd midfielder Norwood targets Championship loan

Manchester United midfielder Oliver Norwood wants a step up to the Championship in January.

Norwood is currently on-loan at League One Scunthorpe United.

"Before I joined Scunthorpe, the gaffer pulled me and said he wanted me to go to a Championship club at that time, but Alan Knill came in and said I would play," Norwood told skysports.com.

"He likes Alan Knill, he likes the way he plays football and I think it has done me good coming here.

"I have learnt the horrible side of the game. You have got to get your tackles in, win your headers and stop the opponent from playing and I am grateful to Alan Knill for giving me the chance to prove to people I can play at this level and play at a higher level.

"My time at Scunthorpe expires in January and I spoke to [United reserve team boss] Warren Joyce and I mentioned to him about January and he said they had not looked that far forward as yet and he just told me to keep performing and playing the way I have done and let other people worry about that.

"Hopefully a couple of Championship clubs will want to take me but it is a bit far to be looking that far ahead yet."
