Man Utd midfielder McTominay proud maintaining academy traditions

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay says he's proud to maintaining the club's academy traditions.

United also fielded the youngest starting line-up in the Premier League this season, with the side that beat Brighton 3-1 last month boasting an average age of 23 years and 350 days.

United's commitment to youth has brought them success, from the Busby Babes to the Class of 92. But McTominay knows there is no merit in continuing that youthful legacy if it does not yield success.

“That has to be it," said McTominay. “The manager has said that to us.

“It's not just playing academy players for the sake of it, it's playing them because he believes in those players and believes he can win trophies playing us.

“Hopefully next season and the seasons to come we can go on and win trophies as well. That's got to be the dream."
