Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag will assess James Garner in person before deciding his future.
The young central midfielder was a key figure for Nottingham Forest in the second half of the season, as they secured promotion to the Premier League.
With Garner's loan spell at an end, United will have to decide if they want to hold onto him or send him on loan against next term.
According to the Manchester Evening News, ten Hag wants to watch Garner in pre-season before committing to a course of action.
United do have a gap in central midfield in their squad with the departures of Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba.
