Man Utd manager Solskjaer felt 'very confident' about Aston Villa comeback

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was confident Manchester United would conjure up another comeback against Aston Villa.

The Red Devils were down 1-0 at half-time after Bertrand Traore's excellent opener.

They eventually scored three goals in the second-half to claim all three points at Villa Park.

"I was confident. I was very confident," Solskjaer said of the comeback. "I felt we played okay in the first half, we created chances but didn't take them.

"They didn't have too much, Dean [Henderson] didn't have too much to do but it was a very good goal. You can't stop those quality moments. It was just about confidence, believing in what we are doing and they showed that in abundance."

The win came three days after United overcame Roma in the Europa League semi-final, and Solskjaer was delighted with how his team responded to the short turnaround.

"Delighted, it's always going to be difficult after you've been in Europe, in Rome," he said. "We didn't come back until half past four/five o'clock in the morning [on] Friday.

"I can't blame them, the advantage of being fresh going into a game like this is quite high and it's just coincidence that tells you we could have scored the first goal once or twice before they scored. They scored from nothing – a good goal by the way – but I'm pleased with everyone. I know how hard it is towards the end of a long season."
