Man Utd manager Solskjaer: McTominay example for youngsters

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes that Scott McTominay is the perfect example for the young players at the club.

McTominay, who is now 22, enjoyed a successful season last term on a personal level.

He broke into the first team and cemented his place towards the end of the campaign.

Solskjaer believes youngsters can look to the Scottish midfielder as an example to follow.

"Scott is a good example of what we expect and hope from our youngsters," Solskjaer said to reporters.

"He's being patient, I hope he's going to break through properly this season, or I'm sure he's going to have a great impact on the team.

"With Nicky, now having the job, he knows what we want from players, he knows what the demands and standards are for young players coming through.

"There's always been a big void since I was at the club when I took the reserves, how is the pathway going to be from under-18s to the first-team. It's a difficult one.

"We've got different examples, but this club has been based on young players coming through and we'll always rely on young kids coming through and Nicky is going to be in charge of that."
