Man Utd, Man City go head-to-head for Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos

Manchester United and Manchester City are going head-to-head for Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos.

Both United boss Jose Mourinho and City's Pep Guardiola want to bring the Germany international to England.

Kroos is tied to Real until 2020 and on a salary of €5 million, which is swamped by the €20 million-a-year deals of Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos.

"There's suggestions of a struggle between Guardiola and Mourinho, the two coaches with the prestige of an international order big enough to attract the player. A player from Real Madrid. We are talking about Toni Kroos. Both see him as a key player for their future," pundit Pipi Estrada said on Spanish TV yesterday.
