Man Utd, Man City alerted as BVB consider Haaland summer sale

Manchester United and Manchester City are both keen on Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.

The Daily Mail says City are planning for the future as Sergio Aguero's time at the Etihad Stadium draws nearer – and are planning to be active in the market next summer.

The Argentine's contract runs down at the end of this season and talks surrounding a new deal have not yet taken place, with injuries blighting his year thus far.

City's cross-town rivals Manchester United, who they face at Old Trafford on Saturday, also admire Haaland after a failed bid to land the Norwegian when he left RB Salzburg for Germany.

United's main area of focus has been a new right winger – chiefly Jadon Sancho – but want to be kept informed on Haaland's status.

Dortmund are under no obligation to sell their top scorer next summer given his release clause – believed to be worth around £65million – does not kick in until 2022.

Yet they may view the end of this season as the best time to receive true market value for the 20-year-old, while sources indicated that Real Madrid will launch a bid if they can raise the finances required.
