Manchester United have made a final contract offer to Juan Mata.

The Manchester Evening News says sources close to the player say the playmaker is 'calm' and it is understood United are more hopeful Mata will agree an extension.

United have offered him a one-year deal with the option of an additional year. Mata has been seeking a minimum two-year contract.

United have also offered Mata an ambassadorial role at the end of his playing career.

Mata's father and agent, Juan Manuel, is also speaking with Barcelona about a Bosman move.
