Man Utd maintain De Gea contract talks

Manchester United are continuing their negotiations with David de Gea over a new contract.

The Mirror says the Spaniard's current deal expires at the end of next season but Old Trafford chiefs are keen on tying him down to a new long-term deal.

United are willing to pay De Gea £350,000-a-week, almost double his current £200,000-a-week salary, in order to keep him in the Premier League.

However the 28-year-old's representatives want closer to £500,000-a-week, which has proved a stumbling block to an extension being agreed.

Real Madrid are closely monitoring De Gea's contract predicament with United, with their first-choice keeper Thibaut Courtois struggling for form and the 13-time European Cup winners looking for a replacement.
