Manchester United defender Teden Mengi is set to stay with Derby County next season.

The Athletic reports United are willing to let Mengi return to Derby County on loan next season with a deal believed to be 'probable'.

He could well get a chance in pre-season but United want to sign a new defender themselves, so he could get pushed further down the pecking order if he were to stay.

Derby boss Wayne Rooney has made it clear he'd like to hang onto Mengi next season.

The youngster joined the Rams in January.
