Manchester United are pushing to sign Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
Sky Italia says United are trying to complete a deal for Koulibaly.
United are searching for a central defender to partner captain Harry Maguire at Old Trafford next season and have reportedly taken concrete steps to sign the Senegalese international.
United have offered the Serie A heavyweights £71million for the 28-year-old, who is also wanted by Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain.
However, that wasn't quite enough for Napoli.
The report continues to suggest that Gennaro Gattuso's side want £89million for Koulibaly - a price that would eclipse the current world-record transfer fee paid for a defender - which is currently the £80m United paid Leicester for Maguire in August 2019.
