Manchester United and Liverpool are monitoring Eduardo Salvio's new contract talks with Benfica.
The Mirror says Salvio's agent Agustín Jimenez was in meetings with Benfica officials on Sunday and Monday in a bid to add an extra year to his deal, but Salvio and his representative are pushing to lower his current release clause of 60million (£43.1m) in return for penning a renewal.
Benfica have confirmed that Manchester United had scouts at the Estadio da Luz last weekend.
Liverpool and Zenit St. Petersburg - managed by Andre Villas-Boas - are also known to be interested.
