The 23-year-old has some good knowledge and experience to draw back on in the form of his father Paul - former Manchester United, Liverpool and England midfielder - and says he spends time going over the tapes just like Gary Neville or Jamie Carragher would do on Sky Sports' coverage of the Premier League.
Ince told the FL72 Podcast: "We watch the tapes back after the game, I try and get away from him, but he has me in the front room - pause, play, pause, play - you are talking Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher analysis.
"It is great to have that support. As well as the manager I have my dad who has played at the highest level to give me advice.
"Having travelled to some fantastic places with him, I have seen what I want to do and it will spur me on. I just have to keep my feet on the ground, believe in my ability and stay there. I feel like I have found a home in Derby."
