Mainz midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin wants to move to England before the Premier League deadline falls.

Gbamin, who was linked with Arsenal earlier this summer, appeared to have committed himself to Mainz for the new season.

However, the 22 year-old has now stated he's open to a move away.

"I have a contract until 2022. At the moment I am also concentrating on preseason with Mainz," said Gbamin yesterday evening from the club's Tyrol training camp.

"But who knows what will happen tomorrow? Maybe there will be a great offer that I cannot refuse.

"The transfer period is still long!

"If I switch, then to England, German and English football are the best match for my playing style! France, Spain, Italy - that's not for me."

Gbamin also revealed he grew up as a big fan of Manchester United and Liverpool.
