Manchester United legend Edwin van der Sar is set to miss out on promotion at Ajax.

Van der Sar is currently commercial manager at Ajax and was being groomed to eventually take the general manager's post.

But De Telegraaf says Van der Sar doesn't feel ready for such a responsibility and Ajax will turn elsewhere to find a successor for current GM Michael Kinsbergen.

Roger van Boxtel is expected to be named GM at Ajax from next season.

Its unclear whether Ajax still see Van der Sar as a future GM.
