Manchester United legend Paul Scholes wants to see more of Donny van de Beek in a deeper midfield role.
The Dutchman plays as a second striker for the national team and with his club Ajax last term. But when van de Beek has played in a deeper no.6 role, he has impressed with United.
He was excellent against Istanbul Basaksehir in the UEFA Champions League in a 4-1 win.
Asked about Van de Beek's best position, Scholes said on BT Sport: "It's a good question, you have to say where he played tonight is his best position.
"I think he's good enough at that [the defensive work]. I think he'll be willing to try to do that.
"It won't be the defensive quality he brings, the quality he'll bring is the link-up play between the forward players which is important."
