Man Utd leave Hummels to Arsenal

Arsenal are set to get a clear run at Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels. The Daily Star says the 25-year-old has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Premier League, and according to reports, Manchester United and Arsenal are keen to sign the former Bayern Munich ace.

Sources in Germany suggest that Arsene Wenger and Louis van Gaal are keen to snap up the centre-back, who has attracted interest from a host of Europe's top clubs.

But according to fresh reports, Van Gaal has ended his interest in the German.

Gunners boss Wenger is eager to strengthen his team's shaky defence in January, and has reportedly made signing Hummels his number one priority.
