Manchester United are favourites to sign Lucas Biglia from Lazio according to reports from Italy.

Corriere dello Sport suggests that the Red Devils are leading the chase for the 30-year-old Argentine who is also of interest to Italian giants Juventus and Inter Milan.

It is believed that United see Biglia as a perfect short-term replacement for Michael Carrick whose future at Old Trafford remains up in the air.

Defensive midfielder Biglia has two years to run on his contract with Lazio and would command a transfer fee of around £20million.
