Man Utd keeper Pereira explains reason for Hearts loan

Manchester United goalkeeper Joel Periera has explained his reasons for going out on loan to Hearts.

The Portuguese under-21 international will spend the coming season at Tynecastle.

The youngster is hoping that he can gain first team experience and prove his value to the United coaching staff.

"I spoke with the staff at Manchester United and the idea was for me to get out on loan and to get as many minutes as I can," he told Hearts TV.

"I've been working with David de Gea and Sergio Romero for some time now and it's amazing. Lee Grant is also there and they are like big brothers to me.

"They only want the best for me and are always trying to help. Being around world class 'keepers has definitely made me a batter goalkeeper and also a better person. The GK union is amazing there!

'When I was younger I was a fan of van der Sar. I've had the chance to meet him at the training ground.

"Manchester United have had some unbelievable goalkeepers; Schmeichel, Barthez, van der Sar and now David de Gea. Hopefully they can continue this legacy."
