David De Gea has no intention of leaving Manchester United this summer, according to The Sun.
It is believed that the Spanish goalkeeper is keen to remain at Old Trafford and play under Jose Mourinho after it emerged he was unhappy when Louis van Gaal was in charge.
25-year-old De Gea was close to joining Real Madrid last summer, before a paperwork error occurred on deadline day, and it was believed that the Spanish giants were set to again pursue him in this transfer window.
However, a friend of De Gea's reportedly told The Sun: "Jose played a big, big part in this story.
"If the other one was still manager, David would be a Madrid player today. Jose has been texting David all the time to say 'stay and play for me'.
"Madrid have been pushing and pushing the boy to come, but in the end it was his decision to stay in Manchester."
It is now understood that De Gea has no plans to return to Madrid to live with his girlfriend, singer and TV presenter Edurne, and will stay put at Old Trafford to be a part of the Mourinho era at United.
