Manchester United have joined four other clubs in pursuing Lille defender Gabriel.

Everton, Arsenal, Napoli and PSG have all made contact about signing the Brazilian centre-back.

The Red Devils are hoping to use the windfall from Chris Smalling's move to Roma in order to fund the deal.

Roma want to pay £12m for Smalling but United want closer to £20m.
