Manchester United have joined a host of European heavyweights attempting to sign Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi.
Spanish publication Fichajes is reporting the Red Devils face competition from Bayern Munich and Barcelona in the race to sign the £18million-rated German international.
It is understood the powers that be at Old Trafford have identified Mustafi as a player who can significantly bolster United's defensive stocks.
The 23-year-old has played a key role in Gary Neville's side's progression to the Europa League's Round of 16 this season.
