Napoli defender Giovanni Di Lorenzo is interesting Manchester United.

The 26-year-old is being linked with a move to Old Trafford, reports Calcio Napoli 24, and United have discussed a move with Di Lorenzo's agent.

Napoli are keen not to lose the full-back, who has been an integral part of the squad under former boss Carlo Ancelotti and his successor Gennaro Gattuso.

United have been alerted to his talents due to his versatility across the back four, with the report suggesting Di Lorenzo will be brought in primarily as back-up.

At this stage their contact with Di Lorenzo's agent is merely a fact-finding mission to learn more information about the Italian, rather than any concrete approach.

The former Empoli star only joined Napoli for £7million (€8m) last summer, and is under contract at the San Paolo until 2024.
